Dahal faction holds separate meet
KATHMANDU, JUN 25 - Different factions of the UCPN (Maoist) have once again resumed politics of factionalism after calling its Central Committee (CC) meeting for at least three days.
A day after the Maoist leaders decided that they would resume the CC once an agreement is reached among the top three leaders—Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Vice Chairmen Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and Mohan Baidya—on different issues.
The leadership faction led by Dahal held a separate meeting in the Capital on Saturday.
Dahal called the meeting of Maoist-aligned All Nepal Cultural Association (ANCA), Writer’s Association, Film Artists Association among others.
The Maoist activists were also addressed by party Standing Committee member Barsha Man Pun.
ANCA Chairman Bishnu Bhadari said the party would take “decisions” on the basis of majority if consensus could not be forged within the party.
However, central Chairman of the association, Ishwor Gyawali said that he was not informed about the meet and therefore its decision would not be acceptable. Gyawali is reported to be close to Vice Chairman Baidya.
