Defiant envoys would be called back: FM Yadav
KATHMANDU, JUN 20 - Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Upendra Yadav made it clear on Monday that the envoys defying the government directive would be called back. DPM Yadav said the government has decided to withdraw Nepali envoy to India Rakam Shamser to start with.
Speaking at an interaction organised in the Capital today, Yadav said that the government decided to withdraw Shamser as he did not complied with the government order instead he acted under the direction of the party, that had recommended Rana as the ambassador.
The Nepali Congress had recommended Rana as the ambassador to India.
Minister Yadav charged that Shamser did not come back to the capital during the visit of Indian External Affairs Minister SM Krishna in the month of April, which, he said, was aimed at spoiling the ties between Nepal and India. He added the government decided to withdraw Shamser for the same reason.
MoFA Yadav claimed that Shamser carried out anti-government activities in India, lobbied against the current coalition and did not make necessary arrangement for Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal’s visit to India.
Minister Yadav said that the government would appoint the next ambassador to India on consensus basis. However, it has not been decided yet whether a political or bureaucratic candidate would be appointed for the post, he added.
“The Nepal-India tie is very smooth and there is no problem,” said Yadav. “The government will appoint the ambassador so as to take the relations to a new height.”
