No licence to pvt schools
GORKHA, JUN 12 -
The District Education Office, Gorkha, has stopped issuing licence to run private schools, flouting the law.
The education office, under pressure from the All Nepal Teacher Organisation (ANTO) and the All Nepal National Independent Student Union Revolutionary (ANNISU-R), reached a decision to this effect, even though the existing regulation has it that no private school shall be denied permission.
Eight schools seeking permission have been denied licence. These schools, however, are admitting students and conducting classes regularly.
“The District Education Office stopped permission after the All Nepal Teacher Organisation and the Maoist district level leaders told the office not to grant permission to run private schools,” said one of the employees requesting anonymity.
ANTO and ANNISU-R, affiliated to the Unified CPN (Maoist), have been pressing the education office to stop issuing new licence to open private schools. They have also submitted a memorandum to the office for the same.
