KATHMANDU, JUN 11 -

CPN-UML Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam said on Saturday that Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal would not resign from the post until an agreement over the next leadership was forged.

Speaking at a programme organised in the Capital, Gautam claimed that the government would be in a caretaker state for a long period provided that PM Khanal resigned sans an agreement among the political parties.

“Formation of a national consensus government is not possible if the prime minister resigns under the current circumstances,” he said.

Gautam underlined that the nation would plunge into a crisis if a national consensus government were not formed at the earliest.

On the occasion, he accused the political parties of showing pessimism towards forging a deal over government formation, peace, and statute drafting.
