KATHMANDU, JUN 08 - The senor members of Maoist People’s Liberation Army (PLA) on Wednesday advised the party leadership to make uniform decision regarding the issue of PLA integration.

The PLA made such request at a meeting between Maoist office bearers and senior PLA members held at Nayabazaar covered hall in the Capital.

The meeting that came on the heels of the decision taken by the party leadership to take forward the integration process reportedly discussed the entire gamut of integration—a key part of the peace process—including the end of dual security to the party leaders.

However, both the Maoist leaders and PLA members declined to respond to the queries raised by the media after the meeting.

A senior PLA member, seeking anonymity, said the former combatants urged that the integration should be carried out in a respectable manner and suggested that the leadership should become united on the party’s decision on integration.

The PLA’s advise is apparently hinted at the reservations expressed by the party’s hard-line faction led senior Maoist Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya.

Earlier, Baidya faction had written a note of dissent on some decisions taken by the party on the integration issue.

Besides the seven Maoist office bearers, around 22 PLA commanders including chief Nanda Kishor Pun and deputy chief Chandra Prakash Khanal were present at the meeting.

The meeting was said to have been convened to take the combatants into confidence on the integration process and read their minds on the peace process and the party's decisions on integration.

The Maoists had taken important decisions on the integration issue such as accepting the Nepali Army's modality, agreeing to integrate 8,000 to 10,000 combatants and ending the dual security system of Maoist leaders.
