Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal poses for a group photo with the PLA combatants at Nayabazar in the Capital on Sunday.

Earlier, the Maoist Standing Committee had decided to send the combatants to the respective cantonments in which they were originally registered during the verification by United Nations Mission in Nepal.

“I would like to thank all for the vigilance that you have shown throughout your work. I wish for your progress in the coming days,” said Dahal. From now on, the Maoist leaders’ security squad would only comprise of security personnel deputed by the government.

Sources said that Dahal became emotional while bidding farewell to the 50 combatants, under the leadership of division commander Santu Darai. According to PLA Chief Nanda Kishor Pun, the other Maoist leaders will also detach with their PLA security guards within a week.

“The combatants have started returning back to their respective cantonments. They should all be back within the week,” said Pun.
