KATHMANDU, JUN 01 - The Kathmandu District Court (KDC) on Wednesday declined to grant bail to Charles Gurumukh Sobhraj, an alleged “Bikini Killer” of France, Manmeet Singh Bhatiya aka Bijaya Jasjit Singh and Amar Tandon in connection with the Central Jail shooting on March 10.

The trio has been prosecuted by the government prosecutors alleging their involvement in the notorious shootout amid a high security in a bid to kill Yunus Ansari, the chairman of National Television.

Ansari was doing time in the Central Jail on the charge of possessing drugs and operating fake Indian currency racket.

A single bench of Judge Narayan Shrestha dismissed the bail to them saying they had to remain in police custody till another verdict.

Police on Tuesday had presented Shobhraj at the KDC to trace his statement where he refused the offence and claimed being innocent.

Initially, Singh had told the police that he was planning to shoot Ansari inside the jail premises on January, but changed the plan after jail security introduced metal detector at the entrance.
