'Risky to extend CA term without consensus of opposition parties'
DANG, MAY 20 -
CPN-UML Secretary Shankar Pokharel Friday said the Constituent Assembly (CA) would cease to exist if its term is extended on majority basis.
Speaking at the inauguration of a cricket tournament organised by the All Nepal National Free Students Union in Dang, Pokharel said it could be risky to extend the term without the consensus of the opposition.
According to the three-point deal made with UCPN (Maoist), the CA term cannot be extended unless a proper basis for peace and constitution is institutionalised. Stating that it is not the time to look for majority, Pokharel said UML is also not in favour of a majority government.
Claiming that no task is possible unless a national government is formed, Pokharel said it would make no sense to carry on with the government in the current situation.
Pokharel further went on to say that, he is dissatisfied with Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal, who has been working against the UML ideologies although he is the party Chairman.
