Normal life crippled in western region
LUMBINI, MAY 20 -
Normal life in Lumbini, Gandaki and Dhaulagri zones has been crippled on Friday due to the Western region bandh called by Brahmin Samaj Nepal.
Long and short route vehicles have come to a grinding halt and academic institutions, industries and market areas in the western region have also been shut down due to the bandh.
The cadres of the Brahmin Samaj have been demonstrating since early this morning demanding Brahmin including all the Nepalese to be enlisted as indigenous nationalities, reservations of Brahmins in government bodies and timely promulgation of the new statute.
It has been reported that the irate activists vandalised the ambulance (Lu 1 Cha 3244) for defying the strike in Palpa. The police arrested three for their involvement in the vandalism.
They also obstructed the vehicle carrying Kantipur Daily newspaper at Amarsingh Chowk in Pokhara this morning.
