75 percent of total budget for Dolakha likely to freeze
DOLAKHA, MAY 14 - Around 75 percent of the total budget allocated for development projects in Dolakha district is likely to freeze.
The government allocated around Rs 100 millions for the development projects in the district this fiscal year.
The last deadline to sign the agreement projects is mid-May. However, more than half the projects are yet to be signed till date due to lack of cooperation among political parties to select and implement the projects.
A source said that out of 88 projects selected by the District Development Committee (DDC), only 32 were signed for implementation till Friday.
The political parties are accused of dividing dozens of small projects worth more than Rs 30,000 each among their cadres despite the rule that the DDC is not allowed of approve a project worth less than Rs 300,000.
Local Development Officer Shankar Bahadur Thapa said that the project selection and implement processes delayed due to non compliance with the rule while selecting developments projects.
Likewise, budget allocated for construction of three buildings each for women, dalit and janajati communities is likely to freeze.
The district chairman of Aadibasi Janajati Mahasang Jivan Lama said that the possibility of constructing the buildings is slim as the parties are yet to decide on the land to be provided by the DDC. The DDC has altogether 388 small and big projects.
