Maoist picks ministers
KATHMANDU, MAY 04 -
The UCPN (Maoist) on Wednesday finalised the names of leaders to represent the party in the Council of Ministers under the current government.
It is learnt that Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal picked seven ministers and four state ministers to be sent to the Cabinet under the leadership of Krishna Bahadur Mahara, as suggested by the office bearers.
Meanwhile, Peace Minister Barsa Man Pun has resigned from his post. Pun is reported to have resigned after the party did not pick him as the home minister.
However, talking to eKantipur this afternoon, Pun claimed that the party's decision on the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) portfolio has nothing to do with his resignation.
The ministers finalised by the Maoist are as follows:
Krishna Bahadur Mahara: Deputy Minister and Home Minister
Agni Sapkota: Minister for Information and Communication
Shakti Basnet: Minister for Health and Population
Bishwa Nath Shah: Minister for Peace and Reconstruction
Jayapuri Gharti: Minister for Women, Children, and Social Welfare
Ram Chandra Chaudhary: Minister for Land Reform and Management
Mahendra Paswan: Minister for Industries, Commerce and Supplies
Hitman Tamang: Minister for Youth and Sports
Dharma Shila Chapagain, Habibullah Khan, Dhruba Kumar Limbu, and Devi Khadka have been recommended for State Ministers.
