UML lawmakers urge PM not to endorse budget on May 23
KATHMANDU, APR 29 -
At a time when the government has been preparing to present the budget at the House on May 23, the CPN-UML lawmakers suggested Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal not to endorse the budget at the recent time.
During the UML Parliamentary party meeting held on Friday, majority of the UML lawmakers said that the twin task of peace process and the constitution drafting will be hampered if the budget is endorsed prior to the May 28 deadline.
According to the sources, the lawmakers opined that the focus to take the peace process to a logical conclusion and statute drafting may divert if budget is endorsed at this phase.
They also said that action plan for the peace process and statute should be brought if the government wants to endorse the budget on May 23.
