PALPA, APR 25 -

Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala Monday termed the present government a 'failure', and urged to form a new national government under the leadership of the NC.

Speaking at a press meet organised by the Palpa chapter of Press Union, Koirala said that the government, which has become controversial due to the wrangling over Home portfolio and the delay in Cabinet expansion, cannot be successful.

Saying that an all-party government should be formed to resolve the political deadlock, Koirala added that the NC will join the government as soon as the parties forge national consensus.

Koirala said the nation will plunge into darkness if the parties try to 'minus' the NC.

She said the seven-point deal inked between the UCPN (Maoist) and the CPN-UML has no importance.

Also on the occasion, Koirala claimed that a new constitution will be promulgated within 48 hours if the political parties forge national consensus.

Saying that unity is required to forge consensus, Koirala added that a consensus government will institutionalise republic, strengthen democracy and resolve political deadlock.
