KJWP chair 'beaten to death'
KHOTANG, APR 21 -
Kirat Janawadi Workers Party (KJWP) Chairman Bidroha Biswas was beaten to death during a clash at Gargare in Pangcha VDC of Bhojpur on April 8.
The clash erupted between the locals and KJWP cadres following a debate over the disruption of boating in the locality, said police.
However, locals said that he was not killed by them rather he died after he jumped into the Dudhkoshi River.
Family members of Biswas have filed a complaint at the National Human Rights Commission Regional office on Sunday (April 17), urging to search for his body. Locals claimed that the KJWP members had fired shots during the clash.
Police said one Hankaraj Rai, an associate of Biswas, was arrested on April 9 and has been taken into custody at the District Police Office, Bhojpur.
KJWP, led by Biswas aka Dinesh Rai, was accused of carrying out enforced "donation-drive", terrorizing the people. The outfit had allegedly stormed the police stations at Nunthala, Chisapani, Devisthan and Faktang, and robbed them of their arms and ammunitions.
