Incessant snowfall
PARBAT, APR 21 -
Incessant snowfall in Mustang district for the past one week has affected normal life.
The mercury has sharply gone down in more than a dozen VDCs, including Mutinath and Lo Mangthan.
Chief District Officer Yogendra Prasad Pandey said the district had received snowfall till March-end last year. “But this year, it is still snowing even till this time,” he said. Many places are blanketed by snow. Locals are having tough time planting crops. Pilgrims visiting Muktinath Temple have been affected. Public movement is thin owing to nipping cold. One inch
of snow has fallen in Samar, Syangboche and Bhena areas of Upper Mustang, said a government official, Santosh Sherchan.
He said the district had received snowfall in this month many years ago. Pandey speculated that snowfall will continue for the next couple of days. He said the process of shifting Jomsom-based Armed Police base camp to Lo Manthang has been affected.
