‘MoHA must not be allocated to Maoist’
PALPA, APR 16 -
CPN-UML leader Pradeep Gyawali said on Saturday that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) portfolio must not be allocated to the UCPN (Maoist).
Taking serious exception to Prime Ministers Jhalanath Khanal’s statement, Gyawali said that the nation will be shoved into a catastrophe provided that the MoHA is allocated to the Maoist.
Speaking at a programme organised in Palpa, Gyawali reiterated the UML Standing Committee (SC) has decided that ministries concerned with the security system of the nation must not be given to the Maoist.
Identifying the Maoist as the principle hurdle against the peace process, Gyawali claimed that the same can be piloted to a logical conclusion within a month if the Maoist wills to do so by expediting the process of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) integration.
“However, the Maoist wishes to retain the PLA and the arms and continue the politics of violence,” he added.
Underlining that the new constitution cannot be promulgated under the shadow of arms, Gyawali urged for the accomplishment of the PLA integration process at the earliest.
He added that the basis to extend the term of the Constituent Assembly (CA) does not exist citing the lethargic progress seen in the statute drafting process.
Adding that the 7-point agreement forged between PM Khanal and Maoist Vice Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has a procedural flaw, Gyawali said that the new statute must not be drafted sans consensus with the NC and the Madhes-based parties.
