Maoist calls politburo meet
KATHMANDU, APR 16 - The UCPN (Maoist) has summoned a politburo meeting in an attempt to decide upon the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) issue on Saturday.
The meeting of the office bearers convened at Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s residence in Nayabazar decided to convene the politburo meeting on April 20 and 21, sources confirmed.
“The meeting has been called to hold discussions on contemporary political issues,” Maoist Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha informed, emerging after the meet today.
The party’s Standing Committee (SC) meeting convened at Sukute in Sindhupalchowk had conferred the responsibility to pick the new home minister on the party chair.
However, disputes within the party have escalated after party’s Vice Chairman Mohan Baidhya took serious exception to Dahal’s proposing Maoist leader Dev Gurung for the home ministerial post.
It is learnt that Baidhya has put forth Dev Gurung’s name for the home ministerial berth.
Meanwhile, Maoist Vice Chairman Baburam Bhattarai has proposed Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara for the same post.
