Govt under influence of 'unconstitutional' forces: NC
KATHMANDU, APR 04 -
The Nepali Congress (NC) said on Monday that the current Jhalanath Khanal-led government is under the influences of an ‘unconstitutional power-centre.’
The NC’s parliamentary party meeting convened in the Capital today concluded that the government’s decision to halt the appropriate bill endorsed by the parliament shows the influences of the unconstitutional forces.
“The parliamentary party takes serious exception to the government’s decision, which has made a mockery of the Legislature-Parliament,” the NC’s decision states.
Identifying the Maoist as the principle impediment to the statute drafting process, the NC has accused the Maoist of hindering the work of the sub-committee formed under the Constitutional Committee (CC) to narrow down the differences seen in the Constituent Assembly (CA).
Talking to the mediapersons after the meet, NC Parliamentary Party leader Ram Chandra Poudel claimed that the possibility of a timely statute seems slim at present.
It is learnt that the NC PP reiterated its stance that the peace process must be concluded prior to the promulgation of the new constitution.
