Don’t politicise Khanal’s resignation: Adhikari
PAC meet: Lawmakers seek clarifications on supplementary budget
KATHMANDU, APR 03 -
Finance Minister (FM) Bharat Mohan Adhikari said on Sunday that the resignation of Finance Secretary Rameshwor Khanal need not be politicised.
Speaking at the meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) convened in the Capital, FM Adhikari informed he had no disputes with Khanal on aspects of economic transformation and ideology.
Claiming that there had been no debates on issues of VAT bills, transfer and promotion of the government officials, Adhikari clarified that he differed with Khanal only on some concepts and principles regarding the economy of the nation.
He informed that he has appealed to Khanal to come forth for a discussion on the differences faced at the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
On the occasion, the lawmakers urged FM Adhikari to clarify the need to announce a supplementary budget, claiming that the same is not necessary.
Lawmaker Prakash Chandra Lohani underlined that the government has no right to meddle with the state affairs by announcing a supplementary budget sans the consent of the finance secretary, sources confirmed.
Also in the meeting, Hridesh Tripathi said that announcing a supplementary budget by displacing the budget endorsed by the House will transgress the decision of the parliament.
Likewise, another lawmaker Rabindra Adhikari stressed that further discussions must be held prior to deciding upon the issue of supplementary budget announcement.
