Finance Secretary Rameshwor Khanal, who caught media attention due to his recent resignation-scandal at the Ministry of Finance (MoF), has arrived in Parbat district on Saturday.
Khanal is reported to have come for a visit to his maternal hometown at Khanigaun VDC in the district to ‘freshen his mood,’ sources confirmed.
Talking to the mediapersons today, Khanal clarified that he is not resigning due to political pressure but because of frustrations triggered by unabated corruption in the government.
Underlining that he has no hard feelings towards Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari, Khanal added that he had made up his mind to resign from the post a year ago.
He said that he wishes to serve the society and the nation voluntarily rather than through the secretarial post at the MoF.
“I will probably engage in the academic field,” Khanal said, “Returning to the MoF is out of the question.”
