JALESHWOR, MAR 28 - In yet another attempt on the life of VDC secretary, an unknown gang shot at secretary of Balwa VDC, Shiva Ram Pandey, in Mahottari district on Monday. Pandey has sustained bullet injury in his stomach and have been admitted to Janakpur Zonal Hospital.
He is said to out of danger.
Pandey, who is also the district chairman of VDC Secretary Rights Protection Center and Nepal Madhes Civil Servants Forum, was shot while he was returning home in Tigauna VDC-2 from the district headquarters. He was riding on a bicycle.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjaya Kumar Sharma, a motorcycle-borne gang opened fire at Pandey as he was returning home on his bicycle. The pulsar motorbike was bearing Indian number plate.
SP Sharma informed that the police have intensified search operation in the possible hideouts.
Two years back, an underground armed group had detonated a bomb at Pandey’s residence for his refusal to pay donation.
Various underground armed outfits have been unleashing terror in the Tarai region for the past few years.
