Three arrested with leopard skin
KATHMANDU, MAR 23 - On a tip-off from the Wildlife Conservation Nepal (WCN), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested three people with a leopard skin on Wednesday.
Jit Bahadur Syangtan, 51, a resident of Banakhu VDC, and Ram Bahadur Lama, 31, of Kavre district along with Kancha Man Lama, 28, of Budekhan VDC in Dhulikhel were arrested from Dhulikhel Municipality Ward no. 3 on Wednesday with a skin measuring eight feet long and over two feet wide.
According to Buddhi Ratna Dongol of WCN, the three were arrested while trying to sell the leopard skin to an investigation team of the WCN. The WCN intelligence unit has been set up to monitor illegal wildlife trade of endangered live and dead animals.
Kathmandu Valley is supposed to be the hot spot for illegal wildlife trade, routing such products to China and India.
