Maoists make public 'broader front'
KATHMANDU, MAR 15 - The UCPN (Maoist), which has been facing intense pressure from all sides to dissolve the paramilitary structure of its youth front—Young Communist League (YCL), on Tuesday made public a new broder front, Civil Volunteer Bureau.
The broader front was made public amid a programme organised at the party headquarters in Prais Dada, Koteshwor this afternoon.
Maoist Standing Committee (SC) member Netra Bikram Chand, who is named the bureau’s coordinator, announced the launch of the Civil Volunteer Bureau.
He clarified that the bureau was formed with an intention to serve the society and the nation as a whole.
Refuting the claims made by other political parties that the Maoist is forming the bureau as a part of its strategy to initiate the much-touted people’s revolt, Chand appealed to the parties to have faith on the party's constructive move.
He added that the bureau will strive to accomplish the reconstruction of the physical structures, which were destroyed during the conflict period.
Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal was absent in the meeting
However, the political parties, including the Nepali Congress (NC), have accused the Maoist of endeavouring to impede the peace process by introducing a new bureau during the current transitional phase in the nation.
