KATHMANDU, MAR 13 - At a time when student unions are divided over the poll modality, pushing Free Students' Union election towards uncertainty, Tribhuvan University (TU) on Sunday formed a committee to recommend a solution.
The seven-member committee led by Hari Sharan Chakhun, assistant dean at the Faculty of Law, TU, will suggest a way out after consultations with stakeholders including the student unions.
“The committee will recommend an appropriate modality soon,” Ganga Bahadur Thapa, Student Welfare Department chief and committee member-secretary, said. The committee is likely to suggest the proportional system replacing the old one as a majority of student unions are advocating it.
