‘Support to govt will continue regardless of participation’
KATHMANDU, MAR 01 -
UCPN (Maoist) Vice Chairman Mohan Baidhya said on Tuesday that the party will not withdraw support from the current government even if the latter fails to create a conducive environment for the Maoist to join the government.
Speaking at an interaction programme organised by the Reporters’ Club in the Capital, Baidhya clarified that the Maoist does not wish to topple the current government by withdrawing support.
Informing that the discussion convened between Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal on Monday ended positively, he said that the party’s Standing Committee (SC) slated for tomorrow will take the final decision on government participation.
Baidhya underlined that implementation of the 7-point agreement as per its ‘main spirit’ is the decisive point, not the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) portfolio.
He added that the expansion of the Council of Ministers was delayed because the CPN-UML has not been perfectly clear about the implementation of the 7-point pact.
“However, the redefinition of the deal provided by the UML is satisfactory,” Baidhya said.
On the occasion, he reiterated that the Maoist does not encourage leftist polarisation.
