INARUWA/MORANG, MAR 01 -

Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sujata Koirala said on Tuesday that Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal must resign from his post at once.

Speaking a programme organised at Bhokraha in Sunsari district, Koirala said that PM Khanal, rather than solving the existing problems, is adding to the already worsened situation.

Claiming that the 7-pt agreement is not a deal between the two parties—UCPN (Maoist) and CPN-UML—but a pact between the party chairs, she underlined that the agreement has aroused suspicion in the political arena and made a mockery of the Constituent Assembly (CA).

On the occasion, Koirala urged that the 7-pt agreement must be scrapped and a new pact must be forged, inclusive of the NC.

She accused the Maoist of endeavouring to take power on its hands.

Koirala went on saying that PM Khanal has been proven unsuccessful within a month of his regime.

Speaking at a press meet organised by the Morang chapter of Press Union today, Koirala said Khanal, who became the prime minister by betraying his own party leaders, has been proven incapable, as he has failed to expand the Cabinet.

"Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minster Khanal inked the 7-point deal to capture power by keeping ostracising the NC," she claimed.

Koirala, who showed unwillingness to talk about the internal dispute within the NC, said she is assured that Party President Sushil Koirala will induct her as the party’s vice chair.
