KATHMANDU, FEB 15 -

A “poacher” has been killed in crossfire with a patrolling team of Nepal Army inside the Bardiya National Park, the Army’s Directorate of Public Relations said in a statement on Monday. Jima Tharu of Shivapur VDC was killed after the Army team opened fire on “poachers” at 10:30 pm on Sunday, the Army said in the statement. The statement added that the army men were forced to retaliate after “poachers” opened fire first. Lance Corporal Dal Bahadur Tharu was arrested for supporting the poachers. He has been handed over to the park officials. Three “poachers” managed to flee, the Army said.
