Dahal gives peace message from Rolpa
ROLPA, FEB 13 -
UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that his party is preparing to resolve problems faced by the country after joining the government. He added that the writing of a new constitution is only possible through the collective efforts of all the parties represented in the Constituent Assembly (CA).
Dahal, who was in Rolpa on Sunday to mark the 16th People's War Day, said that he wants to give a message of peace from Rolpa, the place from where the Maoists launched their people’s war 16 years ago, on Feb. 13, 1996.
In a program organised at Thabang, Rolpa, Dahal said that the party is making new plans to fulfil the dreams of thousands of martyrs of the armed people’s war.
Stating that the government has been formed after a long exercise, he said that the present government has been formed basically by the Maoists' aid. "We might be joining the new government provided that there is a guarantee to resolve the country’s problems. But if conspiracies are hatched, we will rather opt for protests," he said.
He accepted that there are different opinions within the party, but assured that they will soon be agreed upon. "The party will not split, we will work in harmony. We have fought along with each other for so long, there is no chance of a split," he assured. He said that the petty discussions about some of the party policy have been wrongly hyped as controversies. He claimed that these petty conflicts, in fact, have strengthened the party.
Dahal further said that the party is working hard for the constitution but some national and international forces are always trying to intercept.
"Some people of the Nepal Congress (NC) and CPN-UML are trying to abort the constitution-drafting. Maoists will go for revolt if the peace process does not come to a logical end," he said. He asserted that the Maoists will continue their struggle until all Nepalis are free.
Chairman Dahal has already returned to the Capital today, whereas the other cadres including some of the Central Committee members stayed in Rolpa. Dahal returned after a visit to Jaljala Lake and Dhorpatan as he had a meeting with Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal.
