KATHMANDU, FEB 08 - UCPN (Maoist) Vice Chairman Baburam Bhattarai on Tuesday said his party ultimately supported CPN-UML to lead the government as the Maoists had no alternative.
"We tried our best to form a Maoist-led government. The party was compelled to support UML at the last hour after we failed to form the government,"”said the Maoist ideologue at a programme organised in Kathmandu University in Kavre. Blaming that the status quoists stymied the formation of a Maoist-led government, Bhattarai hinted that he was not fully satisfied with the present government.
In another context, he underscored the need for writing a people's constitution ensuring federal republic in the country. "May the changes proceed through peaceful and constitutional ways," he said.
