Leaders’ lies drew slaps: Prithvi Gurung
LAMJUNG, JAN 31 - CPN-UML politburo member Prithvi Subba Gurung said that the people are losing their faith upon the leaders day by day due to their lying habits.
He also said that the leaders had to face slap due to their tendency to be good in front of public by hiding the truth. "We have all been defamed because of all the lies. Please speak the truth. At least, we won’t receive slaps," he said, hinting at the leaders.
Two weeks ago at a public programme in Sunsari, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal was slapped by a former party cadre.
In an hour-long program, he spoke at length about the irresponsibility on the part of top leadership. Gurung also said that there is no point in holding talks for the prime ministerial post with the people who are vying for the same post.
Gurung also said that there is no guarantee of a new prime minister even after the Feb 6 election. He further said that the constitution will not be drafted on time because of the greed and irresponsibility of the leaders.
"There is only a 25% chance. How can we expect a constitution from the people who cannot even choose a prime minister?" he remarked.
He further said the chance of drafting the new constitution in time is depleting everyday due to the fact that only 10 out of the 11 thematic committees have submitted their preliminary drafts and concept papers and thorny issues such as state restructuring and forms of governance have not yet been initiated.
"There are instances of major historic deal struck in a matter of few moments in Nepali politics. It has to be repeated again then only we have the 25% chance of the constitution being drafted," he said.
