I should be the new PM: Prachanda
KATHMANDU, JAN 25 - UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Tuesday reiterated his claim that he should get the chance to lead the government in his capacity as the chief of the largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA).
Talking to the media persons at his residence in Nayabazaar, Dahal said that his party would not accept other parties; leadership in the to-be-formed consensus government.
Prachanda laid out three bases to support his claim: the Maoist should get the leadership as the largest party in the CA; the party's responsible exhibition in the peace process; the party is one half of the peace process.
"The Maoist will lead the consensus government and we do not accept others’ leadership," said the Maoist chairman. "I myself will lead the government as I am the parliamentary party leader of the party."
Mentioning that the Nepali Congress (NC), in a two-party meeting earlier today, has said that it can consider the Maoist leadership given that a solid action plan to conclude the peace process is brought forth, Chairman Dahal said his party will do the homework for the same.
"We will seriously discuss this matter [government leadership] in Gokarna tomorrow," said Dahal. "We will further solidify the combatants' integration action plan."
Earlier today, the NC and the CPN-UML has agreed to disagree Maoist leadership.
