Robbers loot Rs 400,000

KATHMANDU, JAN 19 - Cash and valuables worth more than Rs. 4 lakh were stolen in separate incidents on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Giri Dhari Adhikari of Kaski, who had been staying in the Lumbini Guest House at Sundhara, was robbed of Rs.1.20 lakh, a bag and a watch.

A group of four persons in a taxi with registration no. Ba. 1 Ja 911 looted Adhkari in the morning.

Likewise, an unidentified group of men looted Rs. 1.50 lakh from Ramesh Kumar Ghimire, a resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC)-7, Saraswatinagar. Ghimire was robbed at 1 a.m. while he was walking towards Dillibajar along the banks of the Dhobikhola at Om Hospital, Chabahil.

On  Tuesday, an unidentified woman looted ornaments worn by Subhadra Adikari, 60, at KMC-11, Maitighar. The woman made Adhikari drink fruit juice laced with sedatives and looted a pair of gold earrings, a ring and a chain.

Likewise, an unidentified group of persons looted Rs. 1.10 lakh and a mobile phone set from Ram Hari Khatri, a resident of KMC-10, Thapagaun.

Also, unidentified persons broke into the rented house of Rajesh Khadka and made away with Rs. 15,000. Khadka, a resident of KMC-8, Sifal, had kept the money in one of the pockets of his trousers hung on a rack.

Police said investigations into all the theft cases are underway.
