LALITPUR, JAN 16 -

The UCPN (Maoist) has extended its gratitude to United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) for the contributions made to the peace process by organising a farewell reception on Sunday.

The party organised the reception in a Lalitpur-based hotel in the Capital and bade UNMIN the final adieu.

It is reported that Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, UNMIN Chief Karin Landgren, UN Secretary General's representative Samuel Tamrat, among other leaders, marked their presence in the reception.

On the occasion, Landgren urged the political leaders to fulfill the commitments made for peace and timely statute.

She added that the political parties have been presented with the challenge of fulfilling the wishes of the public.

The reception was organised in the morning because Landgren is leaving for the UN headquarters in New York later today, Maoist sources confirmed.

The government, however, has not organised any programme for UNMIN’s farewell, as yet.
