PM Nepal appeals to cease power struggle
TANAHUN, JAN 08 -
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal appealed to the political parties not to vie for power.
Speaking at a programme organised in Tanahun district on Saturday, PM Nepal claimed that the peace and the statute drafting process has been shoved into a crisis owing to the political parties’ lust for power.
He added that there is no alternative to promulgating the new constitution within May 28.
On the occasion, PM Nepal underscored that the briefing conducted by United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) at the UN Security Council has taken toll on the country’s image in the international arena.
He, however, clarified that the possibility of a presidential rule or a military coup in the nation, as claimed in UNMIN's briefing, is nonexistent at present.
Signaling towards the UCPN (Maoist), Nepal appealed to the political parties to cease threatening the public with claims of initiating a revolt and move forward in unity.
“Where are the parties, which claimed to form the new government within two hours after my resignation?” he questioned.
Claiming that the political deadlock in the nation has been protracted owing to those political parties, which don’t keep their promises, the prime minister urged for consensus at the earliest.
