INARUWA, DEC 30 -

Nepali Congress (NC) Central leader Gagan Thapa said on Thursday that a rotational system of government leadership is suitable at present.

Talking to eKantipur at Inaruwa in Sunsari district, Thapa said that there is no alternative to rotational basis of government leadership because formation of a government with consensus among the political parties is not possible in the current transitional phase.

He added that government leadership must be conferred on NC first, then on UCPN (Maoist), and lastly on CPN-UML.

Claiming that the issue of government formation has gained the principle priority within the NC, Thapa accused the Maoist of endeavouring to establish its grasp on NC.

On the occasion, Thapa clarified that the debates on the issue of appointment of office bearers within the party will be settled after the formation of the much-awaited government.

“It is the responsibility of the party president to move forward incorporating everyone within the party,” Thapa said, “NC President Sushil Koirala must exercise the same on the issue of appointment of office bearers.”
