Probe sees irregularity in NFC recruitment
KATHMANDU, DEC 30 - The government probe committee has hinted that the ongoing recruitment process of over five dozen staff in the state-owned Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) is marred by irregularities.
The committee headed by Arjun Prasad Khanal, under secretary at the National Vigilance Centre (NVC), has raised questions about the examination system and fairness of the examiners, among others. The committee's findings may lead to cancellation of the examination process started more than a year ago, according to the sources close to NVC.
In an exclusive report obtained by the Post, the committee has recommended that NFC, in coordination with the CIAA, initiate action regarding failure to comply with the standard examination system. The report prepared on Dec.13 has suggested that NFC further clarify the 'suspicious facts'.
The committee has stressed the need to form a separate Public Corporation Service Commission as an umbrella organisation to handle the recruitment process in the state-owned corporations.
The five-member committee including a representative from Public Service Commission had crosschecked the results of written test and interview for 62 posts (both gazetted and non-gazetted) and also investigated the coding and decoding in answer sheets.
"The answer sheets did not bear the signature of the exam invigilator," the committee mentions its findings in the report." Some loose paper appear to be attached latter to the original answer sheets."
The panel also found low ranking officials attending the interview process for senior posts, says the report.
The committee was formed about a month ago to probe the issue after the NVC smelt a rat in the selection process as the corporation officials were suspected of assuring jobs to prospective candidates in return of large sums of money.
