PARIS, DEC 25 -

Air traffic is improving at Paris' main airport, where hundreds spent the night on terminal floors and personnel handed out Christmas puppets and chocolates to stranded families.

Snowfall and severe shortages of deicing fluid meant hundreds of flights were canceled at Charles de Gaulle airport and some other European airports Friday, leaving travelers stuck at the start of the holiday weekend.

Sunny skies and two shipments of deicing fluid from the United States helped Charles de Gaulle get back to what the airport authority called "normal" flight schedules Saturday.

Screens showed only a few delays. Children who had to stay in the terminals overnight clutched puppets they were given by airport staff.
