UML lawmakers concerned over PM’s proposal
KATHMANDU, DEC 22 -
CPN-UML lawmakers have taken serious exception over the proposal put forth by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal to confer the prime ministerial post to Nepali Congress (NC) Parliamentary Party leader Ram Chandra Poudel.
In the UML parliamentary party meet held in Singhadurbar in the Capital on Wednesday, the lawmakers drew the attention of the prime minister towards the issue and urged him not to speak against the party’s decisions.
Responding to the same, PM Nepal said he proposed Poudel for the prime ministerial post after the UCPN (Maoist) claimed that the caretaker government cannot aid the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) integration and the peace process.
PM Nepal, in the three-party meet convened last Monday, had put forth a proposal to make Poudel the prime minister for 15 days in order to expedite the peace and the PLA management process and elect the new prime minister in a procedural manner thereafter.
Meanwhile, the UML has decided to vote against the Maoist’s proposal in the House session slated for Thursday.
