PALPA, DEC 03 -

Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Rakam Chemjong said that all the problems would be resolved once the Maoists become ready to integrate its combatants.

Chemjong, at a meeting organised by the Palpa chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists in Tansen, said that the current situation surfaced due to non-implementations of the past pacts by the Maoists.

"We have repeatedly told the Maoists to depict seniority work," he said "They [Maoists] only agree in papers but do not implement." He remarked that the lack of trust between the political parties is the major cause for the delay of the peace process. He further claimed that the integration of the Maoist combatants is the most complicated matter at present.

Minister Chemjong, who is currently on a visit to western districts—Palpa, Gulmi, Argakhanchi and Pyuthan, said that steps are being undertaken to finalise the peace process by January 14. He also revealed that the coordinator of the secretariat has already been nominated and effort already begun. "Maoists do not show willpower in the integration of their combatants," he said. "That is why the peace process in not reaching its goal."
