KATHMANDU, DEC 01 -

UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Wednesday said that his party has become flexible after its sixth extended plenum held in Palungtar, Gurkha.

The Maoist chairman, in a programme organised in the Capital, remarked that his party decided to adopt flexible policy in order to prioritise the peace process and constitution drafting.

The Maoist is making endeavours to hold discussion with the other political parties to try and end the political deadlock, said Chairman Dahal.

The Maoist leader further claimed that the peace and constitution drafting processes moving in positive direction in recent days. He, however, did not mention what were those positive steps in the apparently stalled process.

Before wrapping up its sixth extended plenum on Sunday, the UCPN (Maoist) unanimously decided to give top priority to institutionalising the peace and completing the statute writing.

The former rebel party had also warned of what it often says “the people’s revolt” if any attempts were made to foil the process.

But it remains to be seen how the single largest party in the Constituent Assembly will depict its "flexibility" to give momentum to the political process marred by an unprecedented level of discord--both intra-party and inter-party.
