Koirala accuses Maoists of breaching CPA
BIRATNAGAR, NOV 23 -
Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala accused the UCPN (Maoist) of trying to derail the peace process by breaching the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) one after another.
Speaking at a press meet organised by the Morang chapter of Press Union in Biratnagar on Tuesday, Koirala said the Maoists breached the CPA by making the People's Liberation Army (PLA) to participate at the party's plenum by ignoring the appeal of United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN), allowing its combatant's to make foreign visits, attacking the Finance Minister during the budget session in the House, among other activities.
Koirala said though the incident might be termed as normal in the parliamentary business, Friday's drama can not be termed normal as the vandalism in the House took place following the agreement.
Also on the occasion, Koirala claimed that a fresh debate on the issue of piloting the peace process will emerge after the conclusion of the Palungtar plenum.
He said the Maoists wants to have integration of the combatants and at the same time, involves its combatants in the plenum by breaching the CPA, it clarifies that the Maoist party is not sincere towards the peace process.
