PARSA, NOV 18 -

Police have arrested one Rajesh Sahani of Birgunj with counterfeit Indian currency. District Police Office, Parsa, made the accused public on Thursday at a press meet.

Superintendent of Police Rajendraman Shrestha said Sahani was arrested near Trimurti Cinema Hall last week with about 275,000 counterfeit Indian currencies. The confiscated notes are of thousand and five hundred denominations.

Shrestha claimed that the arrested has been involved in trading fake Indian currency in the border area for the past nine months and transacted more than 3.5 million so far.

Sahani, a BA first year student at Birgunj-based Thakurram College, said at the press meet that one Dhirendra frequently supplied him with the fake money. He also said Dhirendra, an Indian national, has been staying in Kathmandu these days. Sahani said he used to supply those counterfeit notes to India.

Talking to journalists, Sahani admitted his involvement in the transaction of the fake Indian currency for months hoping to make easy bucks through commission.
