The report indicates that the number of international students in the US higher education institutions increased by 3 percent to 690,923 during the 2009/10 academic year. This represents a record high number of international students in the US. The growth is attributed primarily to 30 percent increase in Chinese student enrollment in the US to nearly 128,000. Similarly, Indian students in the US have increased by 2% to around 105,000. They represent 15% of all the international students in the US higher education.
