Prachanda gives clean-chit to NA on Naxal training
KATHMANDU, NOV 11 -
UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' claimed on Thursday that Nepal Army is not guilty in the rumor that accuses his party of imparting training to Indian Maoists—Naxals.
Maoist Military Department Chief Barsaman Pun, in a programme in the Capital on Wednesday, had alleged that Nepal Army Eastern Division has prepared a report stating that the Maoists have been providing training to the Naxals.
"The Maoists have not dragged Nepal Army in this rumor," said Chairman Dahal, talking to the media persons at a tea reception hosted by his party in Kathmandu. "I don't think the army will do such things."
Saying that the Nepal Army has acknowledged the change, the Maoist chairman said," We are assured that the NA is in favor of national independence."
Expressing concern over dragging the army in the rumor, the NA refuted such accusations at today’s meeting of Joint Monitoring Coordination Committee (JMCC).
The Maoist chairman said the government has committed to look into the issue.
Addressing a tea reception organised to mark the Nepal Sambat 1131 in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, Prachanda remarked that it is a premeditated attempt to spread the rumor that Indian Maoists and Pakistani group Lashar-e-Toiba are in Nepali.
Regarding the ongoing bid to break the political impasse, Dahal informed that the top-brass meeting of the big three political parties are moving in a positive direction, though a concrete decision has not been made.
Saying that conspiracies are being hatched to tread on Nepal’s independence and derail the peace and constitution drafting process, Chairman Dahal appealed to everyone to unite against such plots.
