KATHMANDU, NOV 03 -

The UCPN (Maoist) said on Wednesday that the Constitutional Council (CC) meeting called by the caretaker government is meaningless.

Claiming that the current government cannot appoint officials in the constitutional bodies, the party reiterated its stance that the caretaker government is unauthorised to announce the full-fledged budget for the fiscal year.

The meeting of the Maoist office bearers convened at the party’s central office in Perish Danda urged for the formation of the new government within this month, so that the tasks of constitutional appointment and budget release could be accomplished at the earliest.

The meeting dwelt on topics related to the Maoist extended plenum, the endeavors of the political parties to end the current stalemate, and the meeting of the big three slated for today, a Maoist office bearer informed.

The meeting was convened today right after the Nepali Congress (NC) expressed readiness to accept a Maoist-led government provided that the 4-pt deal tabled by the party is addressed.
