Plan afoot to kick Poudel out of race: Gautam
DANG, NOV 02 -
Preparations are afoot to amend the parliamentary regulations and scrap the prime ministerial candidacy of Nepali Congress (NC) Parliamentary Party leader Ram Chandra Poudel, said CPN-UML Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam.
Speaking at a press meet in Tulsipur, Dang, on Tuesday, Gautam said discussions were being held with Congress leaders to garner the support of two-third majority required to amend the parliamentary regulations.
He claimed that Poudel's candidacy will be scrapped, as Congress leaders are also in favour of putting an end to the ongoing unyielding prime ministerial poll.
A new procedure for government formation will be embarked upon as soon as Poudel’s candidacy is scrapped, he said. "The leaders who registered their prime ministerial candidacies in the current procedure will not get place in the new one."
The nation will get a new prime minister and the peace and statute drafting process will gain momentum as soon as Poudel’s candidacy is scrapped, he added.
