Maoist striving to clench NA: Chemjong
DHANKUTA, OCT 30 -
Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Rakam Chemjong accused the UCPN (Maoist) on Saturday that Maoist is intensifying its strategic plans to gain control over state power, arms and the Nepal Army(NA).
Speaking at an inaugural programme in Dhankuta district, he claimed that the peace process cannot be concluded until the Maoist retains its People’s Liberation Army (PLA) combatants in the cantonments.
He urged the Maoist to help create a favourable environment in order to integrate and rehabilitate its combatants.
On the occasion, Chemjong identified the Maoists as the major impediments of the peace process.
He underscored that the formation of a new government is possible only through national consensus.
Stating that there is no alternative to consensus, Chemjong added that consensus is necessary among the political parties in order to recover the nation from the current leadership vacuum and to announce a full-fledged budget.
In a different context, he informed that the Peace and Reconstruction Ministry has been carrying out the reconstruction process of the structures destroyed during the conflict period in a rapid rate.
