Maoists to show maximum flexibility for statute drafting

KATHMANDU, OCT 20 -

The UCPN (Maoist) has decided to show maximum flexibility to speed up the statute drafting process.

A meeting of the Maoist office bearers held at Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's residence in Nayabazar Wednesday morning decided to present itself in a more flexible way to make the newly formed task force effective. The work of the task force is to narrow down the differences between the parties over the outstanding issues relating to the contents of the new constitution.

The meeting focused on drafting the new statute by showing maximum flexibility in the debated issues and outlined the preparations made so far for the extended central committee meeting which is scheduled to meet the last week of Otctober, Maoist Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha informed.

The party has also decided to hold serious discussions with the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML to end the political deadlock, he added.

Last week, on the initiative of CA Chairman Subash Nembang, the task force was formed under the leadership of Maoist Chairman Dahal to patch up differences over the drafts of the various thematic committees.

The task force has been given a deadline of October 24 to complete its responsibilities.
