NEPALGUNJ, OCT 11 -

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Monday said that the economic sector should not be held captive due to the political reasons.

He remarked the country's financial situation is in complete disorder as the state machineries are functioning merely with one fourth of the total annual budget due to lack of consensus among the political parties.

Speaking at a training programme for the UML activists in Nepalgunj today, the prime minister alleged the UCPN (Maoist)'s power-oriented politics has protracted the political deadlock.

The caretaker prime minister said the government will take initiatives to forge consensus as the nation can not be held a hostage of indecision for a longer period.

Prime Minster Nepal, who tendered his resignation on June 31 following intense pressure from the UCPN (Maoist), accused the Maoists of being the obstruction in forging the much-anticipated consensus. He asked the Maoists to stop day dreaming about seizing the state power.

He also noted that there is no alternative to consensus to put an end to the pending tasks of the peace process within the next four months as United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) will leave the country after second week of January.

In a separate context, Prime Minister Nepal said the criminal activities have surged in recent times as the criminals have been getting impunity with the political patronage and favouritism culture.
