DUBAI, OCT 05 -

Nepali Congress (NC) youth leader Gagan Thapa has said on Tuesday that it has been a disgraceful moment to face the people without any progress in the government formation and statute drafting process.

“It feels humiliation to come before you as a lawmaker since there is not authentic government in place and the new constitution has not been drafted,” said Thapa, inaugurating the first general convention of ''Nepali Pubic contact committee, UAE" in Dubai.

He said that it would be a matter of pride to come among the people after forming a new government and the constitution. Nepali Congress is ready to withdraw its candidacy for the post of prime minister if the Maoists fulfill the past agreements, Thapa said.

Youth leader Thapa opined that the people will have to fight for ten more years if the current deadline and opportunity to write the new constitution is missed this time around.

“Had there been no Constituent Assembly hall built by China, Indian-donated buses, television sets gifted by the US and the Microphone bought by Denmark and chairs we got at the mercy of Norway, how would be our situation?” said Thapa, expressing his bewilderment. “That’s why leaders’ big talks hold no meaning; the bottom line is that the constitution should be drafted.”

NNRNI-CC Treasurer Rameshwor Shah, Chairman of Nepali Society, Yam Tamu, among others, were present at the function.
